Joining on a contractual basis, as an In-flight Operations Lead, the Contractor will be required to support the Flight Operations Manager.
Responsible for overseeing improved customer satisfaction within flight, whilst managing Cabin Crew HR and ER matters. Duties will include collaborating with the Food and Beverage Manager and Guest Relations Manager to ensure elevated guest satisfaction. Act as a person responsible for liaising with the aircraft operator and cabin crew department.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
White Desert Africa is the South African logistics subsidiary of White Desert Limited, a UK-based tourism company providing luxury tours of Antarctica. This role is office-based in Cape Town and will generally have normal working hours, except for occasions when overtime work may be required.
KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountability for Employee Relations (ER) within the Cabin Crew area, providing credible advice while weighing up the HR strategy.
- Keeping up to date with current and forthcoming employment legislation and having awareness of topical HR matters; responsible for interpreting and communicating it to the business.
- Ensuring company policies are adhered to.
- Designing and compiling relevant processes and procedures.
- Ensuring all safety measures are observed.
- Conducting pre and post flight briefings and reports.
- Cooperating with the crew and leadership.
- Managing human factors and crew resource management (CRM).
- Overseeing the safety management system (SMS).
REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS
This role reports to the Flight Operations Manager.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Management.
- Previous customer service and first-class service experience (Desirable).
- Holder of a current EASA cabin crew attestation or have held the attestation (Advantageous).
- Previous experience in hospitality, preferably in a managerial position.
- Holder of a valid passport (with a minimum of 12 months before expiry date) with unrestricted right to work and travel globally.
- Willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check from the previous five years and provide satisfactory references for the last five years.
- Willing and able to work shifts covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Based in Cape Town, South Africa.
SKILLS
- Effective time management.

- Extensive knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This is a 4 to 6 month contract role, with no offer of permanency. Preference is given to South African (or with valid work permit) residents, Cape Town-based individuals who are immediately available.
