You Bring:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience within a development environment.
- Proficiency in architectural design principles and fundamental concepts.
- Demonstrated mentoring/leadership skills.
- Detailed knowledge of the SDLC and management of software projects.
- Excellent communication, motivational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership to the Team through collaboration sessions and knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Engage regularly with software architects to ensure development within the Team is according to architectural guidelines.
- Work with other developers, designers/analysts, and architects to ensure that the solutions meet application requirements and performance goals.
- Ensure checked-in code is reviewed to meet standards and maintain a sound code base.
- Ensure that all technical solutions rolled out consider compatibility with other environments and dependencies; have a high usability factor; are reliable to reduce downtime and perform at maximum efficiency during peak periods; and consider security at its highest level.
- Drive the adoption of processes within the Team that meet expectations of technical throughput rates and effective resource utilization during operation.
Quality of Software Implementation:
- Ensure rigorous testing of any solution before deployment and create standards and processes within the Team to align to these.
- Ensure the delivery of a complete and technically appropriate solution covering all agreed tasks and user objectives, tested thoroughly.
- Ensure relevant documentation is provided to support teams and reduce development support load.
- Where possible, work to develop and implement a quality mechanism for the solution to analyze its faults and provide reports prior to a critical failure.
- Develop the solution in a manner supporting modification for future developers, reducing defects and maintaining system quality.
Initiative and Innovation:
- Implement improved processes that positively affect the Team’s performance and company bottom line.
- Anticipate and deal with technical problems and opportunities immediately.
- Take an active role in problem resolution, working after hours if necessary to ensure problems are resolved.
- Demonstrate initiative by acquiring and implementing new knowledge and skills within the Team and the wider group.
- Ensure techniques, technologies, tools, and processes used are in line with industry best practices.
- Generate new ideas and challenge the status quo, supporting change and encouraging innovation.
- Adapt to change with a growth mindset, handling pressure well and demonstrating resilience.
- Ensure quality decisions are made by collaborating with others and reviewing all information systematically.
Knowledge Share:
- Identify Team members requiring specific knowledge and seek ways to impart or upskill them through coaching and mentorship.
- Verify the successful transfer of knowledge and take steps to rectify any gaps.
Coaching/Mentoring:
- Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to Team members from a technical perspective.
- Mentor and contribute to the growth of junior, intermediate, and senior Team members.
- Design and deliver end-user training and training materials.
