Role Description

A great opportunity to work for a successful company within a very busy Finance Department with defined routes for career progression. Involvement with all day-to-day functions within a busy Finance Department, presents a challenging, hands on role for a solid accountant who is keen to add value and achieve results. This is an exciting and challenging role which will entail reporting directly into Finance Director based in Johannesburg.

The Management Accountant will work closely with the Finance, HR & Operations teams to provide information for decision making, also to ensure solid fundamentals, internal controls and maintain up to date financials. This is a hands on role where the successful candidate must be an effective communicator, technically strong, with solid grasp of accounting principles, fundamentals and have the analytical skills to interpret complex data.

Over the last few years the compan’s performance and profits have significantly increased as a result of effective business planning and diversification of service offering to create additional revenue streams. Under the guidance of an extremely successful Board, the company has continued to perform well to this day.

(Please note this is a 6-month contract)

Core Deliverables

Annual preparation of budgets and Forecasts, Forecasting of cash flow monthly,
Preparing and managing cashflow forecasts with regards to creditors payments
Analysing financial performance and identifying areas for improvement
Recommending methods and strategies for cutting costs and increasing profits
Advising on the financial implications of business decisions
Maintaining records and supporting auditing efforts
Applies costing methods to model and evaluate performance in his/her domain of activity (sales, marketing, OPEX).
Oversee maintenance and vendor insurance and set-up financial planning and results management.
Assure compliance with financial auditing standards.
Ensure the team adheres to the end-to-end accounts payable processes.
Review existing procurement processes, drive increased efficiencies, and propose procedures and improvements of reporting for decision-making.
Implementing and maintaining internal controls with regards to the creditors function, capturing, and reconciliations.
Load Supplier payments for authorization on online banking platform
Ensure the integrity of the Accounts Payable ledger.
Receive supplier statements and reconcile them to the supplier ledger. Investigate and resolve discrepancies as necessary.
Managing supplier relationships relative to payment.
Ensure collaboration between internal departments as is necessary.
Oversee the accurate and timely processing of invoices, ensuring they are captured correctly.
Align with Business team to understand cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations and other ad hoc activities
Develop proper process for: Key partners in terms of analyses and cadence.
Obtaining and managing finance for projects

Skills & Experience

Experience gained within a similar role
Part qualified - ACCA, CIMA, CA (SA) or equivalent with a willingness to complete your qualification
Hardworking with a proactive approach
Working knowledge of Nav, Dynamic 365 would be advantageous but not essential
Proficient user of Excel (Essential)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferably has experience within public practice and/or working in an SME environoment within marketing, advertising or PR
Excellent reporting skills and able to clearly present work that is easy to interpret and accurate
Experience of working in unpredictable environment; can deal with unplanned changes to tasks and workloads and successfully handle several tasks at any one time
Commercial experience (Ability to negotiate favourable payment terms with clients and influencing the prices charged for specific campaigns)
Sound technical knowledge
