Vacancy: HR Business Partner
Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive HR and Industrial Relations (IR) management support to the site, collaborating closely with the General Manager and Distribution Centre Managers as part of the management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- General HR Support : Provide generalist HR assistance to the site as needed.
- Management Training : Deliver core management skills workshops to upskill first-line managers.
- Absence Management : Implement absence controls and coach managers to manage and minimize absence-related costs.
- Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures : Train and guide managers on fair and consistent application of disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Staff Turnover Analysis : Identify turnover hotspots and work with line management on resolution strategies.
- HR Audits : Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with procedures and proper documentation.
- In-house Training : Develop and deliver all HR-related industrial training courses on-site.
- Performance Appraisals : Facilitate appraisals, promoting them as a tool for performance review and development.
- Salary Review Process : Collaborate with the GM to effectively execute salary review processes.
- Industrial Relations : Manage IR issues, represent the company at disciplinaries, chair hearings, and provide up-to-date labor relations insights.
- Recruitment and Selection : Actively participate in recruitment, ensuring strict adherence to company procedures.
- Organizational Structure : Update and maintain organograms.
- Employee Induction : Ensure thorough onboarding of new staff and manage associated arrangements.
- Reporting : Submit monthly HR & IR reports to the National HR Manager.
- Employee Engagement : Actively engage with staff to address and anticipate potential issues.
- Social Planning : Plan and implement social initiatives aimed at fostering a positive work environment.
- AIDS Program : Oversee the implementation and training related to the company’s AIDS program.
- Work Committees : Establish and participate in DC committees in line with legislative requirements.
- Documentation and Payroll Liaison : Ensure HR documentation is thorough and collaborate with the Salary Department for smooth information flow.
- Wellness and Positivity : Foster a culture of wellness and positivity within the Distribution Centre.
- First Choice Program : Implement the First Choice program in partnership with the National First Choice team.
- Union Relations : Engage with trade unions, addressing HR-related issues and facilitating resolutions.
- Role Profiles : Update and write role profiles as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Background : Professional qualification in HR, Psychology, or Legal Studies.
- HR Generalist Experience : 5+ years in a generalist HR role, preferably in a warehousing or logistics environment.
- Industrial Relations Experience : 5+ years in HR and IR management, with experience in businesses of over 200 employees.
- Skills and Competencies :

- Experience working with trade unions
- In-depth knowledge of Industrial Relations and HR legislation
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- Sound judgment, with sensitivity to people-related issues
