Head of Harbour Authority and Harbour Master Salary: 65,000 - 69,000 per annum Location: Torbay Full-Time, Permanent We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead our Harbour Authority as the Head of Harbour Authority and Harbour Master. This critical leadership role involves overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the harbour, ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and service are maintained.
Head of Harbour Authority and Harbour Master responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to the harbour team, ensuring effective management of daily operations, including navigation, vessel movements, and mooring.
- Ensure all harbour activities comply with relevant maritime laws, regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Oversee the maintenance and development of harbour infrastructure, including piers, docks, and marine equipment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for harbour users, local authorities, and other key stakeholders. Foster strong relationships and ensure clear communication and collaboration.
- Oversee the harbour's budget, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated effectively.
- Implement and promote environmentally sustainable practices within the harbour operations.
- Lead and coordinate emergency response efforts within the harbour, including incident management and disaster preparedness.
Head of Harbour Authority and Harbour Master experience:- Proven experience in a senior maritime or harbour management role.
- A deep understanding of maritime laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of driving operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Relevant qualifications in maritime studies, harbour management, or a related field.
- Certification as a Harbour Master or equivalent is desirable.
Head of Harbour Authority and Harbour Master Desirable Skills:- Experience in financial management and budget oversight.
