The MS SQL Administrator and Reporting Specialist is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing SQL Server databases and delivering actionable insights through reporting tools. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and scalability of SQL databases, while also providing critical data analytics support to the business. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server databases. Perform regular database backups, recovery, and integrity checks. Monitor and optimize database performance using indexing, query tuning, and troubleshooting. Implement security measures, including access control, encryption, and auditing, to safeguard sensitive data. Data Reporting and Analytics Design and develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations using SQL, SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), Power BI, or other tools. Collaborate with business stakeholders to define reporting needs and ensure data accuracy and relevance. Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into SQL databases to support comprehensive reporting. Maintenance and Monitoring Set up and maintain job scheduling, alerts, and database maintenance plans. Troubleshoot and resolve database errors, failures, and outages. Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, making adjustments to ensure database availability. Documentation and Compliance Document database configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and data protection standards. Continuous Improvement Proactively identify opportunities to enhance database performance, automation, and reporting capabilities. Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server features and best practices to implement improvements. Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education. Certifications (preferred but not mandatory): Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, or other relevant SQL Server certifications. Experience Requirements: 3 years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, including database administration, configuration, and troubleshooting. Proven experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, or other business intelligence tools for creating reports and data visualizations. Experience with ETL processes and tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to support data migration and transformation tasks.
