My client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with financial regulations, maintaining the integrity of financial data, and supporting internal controls. Key Responsibilities: - Governance and Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure all financial services adhere to IFRS and corporate governance standards.
- Manage special projects and ensure timely updates.
- Maintain accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with accounting principles.
- Mitigate risks related to non-compliance with banking regulations.
- Contribute to the development of accounting policies and functional procedures.
- Financial Accounting:
- Manage inter-company loans, sundry debtors, and payables.
- Prepare and review debtor/creditor age analyses and customer invoices.
- Coordinate debt collection and month-end journal entries.
- Compile month-end trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets.
- Oversee VAT returns, cash flow forecasts, and optimize interest on cash balances.
- Conduct monthly control reviews and oversee foreign exchange transactions.
- Manage the end-to-end payment process and internal banking controls.
- Supervise asset verification, update asset registers, and manage asset disposals.
- Oversee work-in-progress accounts and ensure accurate reconciliation with the general ledger.
- Assist in compiling the annual budget and monitor costs.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist the senior financial accountant with preparing financial statements.
- Prepare half-year and full-year reporting packs, board packs, and budget-related files.
- Compile year-end accrual reports and manage debtors and creditors reporting.
- Contribute to variance analysis reports for audit reviews.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Maintain healthy relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide prompt responses to queries and complaints.
- Collaborate with auditors and respond to audit queries as needed.
- Maintain strong liaison with banking counterparts.
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Completed SAICA articles (non-negotiable).
- 3 - 5 years post-articles experience within a commercial company.
- Hyperion software is non-negotiable.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
