About HISP-SA

Location: Remote; preference to candidates residing in African countries, particularly Lesotho, Namibia, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa.
Start Date: Various dates from Dec 2024 to Feb 2025
HISP-SA provides a wide range of digital health solutions including electronic medical records, health information exchange, integration and interoperability with other systems, artificial intelligence, mobile health and data capturing and analysis platforms. Our purpose is to use these digital solutions to improve people’s lives.
The HISP Engineering Department is looking to hire the various roles highlighted above to work on transformational digital health projects. The key responsibilities of each role are outlined below:
1. Software Engineer:
- Develop, test, and deploy software applications.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Collaborate with other team members to design and implement solutions.
- Troubleshoot and fix software bugs.
- Competency with several relevant languages.
2. Full-Stack Developer:
- Work on both front-end and back-end development.
- Design and develop user interfaces.
- Build APIs and server-side logic.
- Integrate with databases and other systems.
- Competency with several relevant database systems and languages.
3. DevOps Engineer:
- Automate infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Manage and maintain servers, networks, and databases.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
4. Database Engineer:
- Design and implement database schemas.
- Optimize database performance and scalability.
- Ensure data integrity and security.
- Troubleshoot database issues.
5. Business Analyst:
- Gather and analyse business requirements.
- Create detailed functional specifications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements.
- Identify potential risks and issues.
6. Solution Architect:
- Design and implement enterprise-level solutions.
- Define system architecture and technology stack.
- Evaluate and select technology solutions.
- Oversee the technical aspects of projects.
- Competency with several health information systems and global goods.
7. Test Engineer:
- Develop and execute test cases.
- Identify and report software defects.
- Perform functional, integration, and performance testing.
- Automate testing processes.
8. UX Designer:
- Design user-friendly interfaces.
- Conduct user research and usability testing.
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with developers to implement designs.
9. InfoSec Specialist:
- Protect information assets from threats.
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.
- Implement security controls and policies.
- Respond to security incidents.
10. Interoperability Expert:
- Integrate systems and applications.
- Ensure data exchange and synchronization between systems.
- Troubleshoot interoperability issues.
- Competency with relevant industry standards and protocols.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in the specific role (Junior roles).
- 5+ years of experience in the specific roles (Senior roles).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Git experience.
- Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
