Thorburn Security Solutions are in search of seasoned Specialised Services Manager professional with strong riot, tactical, strike, and poaching experience.
Are you an experienced professional in Specialised Services solutions, skilled in quality riot, tactical, crowd control, and anti-poaching services? We’re looking for someone who can provide exceptional event services in compliance with legislation, company policies, and procedures, ensuring budgeted financial targets are met. You’ll be responsible for planning and executing all specialised security services, managing logistics from venue setup to breakdown, handling registration and attendee tracking, managing K9 units, facilitating firearm issuance, and ensuring compliance throughout.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop security procedures to support the security strategy.
- Assess security risks and ensure that proportionate measures are in place to protect visitors, staff, buildings, collections, assets, and reputation.
- Ensure that each layer of security is audited and maintained to an appropriate level.
- Schedule employees according to contract requirements.
- Ensure that the security team provides guidance and assurance to staff and develops a reputation for operational excellence.
- Ensure that operational security decisions are correctly recorded and stored, with due regard to sensitivity and information security.
- Review site emergency response and implement disaster preparedness strategy.
- Prepare business continuity plan and ensure optimal workforce planning.
- Deploy qualified security officers in accordance with contract requirements.
- Establish a duty team to lead on operational security issues, directing assets and resources to prevent and respond to incidents.
- Manage the resources of the team in accordance with policy and guidance.
- Ensure effective front-line management of contracts.
- Ensure that contracts for security services and systems are efficiently and effectively managed on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure that weaknesses and breaches are reported upwards.
- Recommend changes to the contracts and delivery of services to provide modern innovative services supporting the business’ targets and objectives.
- Adhere to the Thorburn SOMS, Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SSHEQ) Management System’s Policies and Procedures as applicable to this position.

- Ability to manage and motivate team members for optimal performance and compliance.
- Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, Criminal Procedure Act, The Private Security Industry Regulatory Act, Explosives Act, and Firearms Control Act.
- Knowledge of logistics and equipment maintenance/management.
- Knowledge of crime scene investigation (experience and formal qualification will be advantageous).
- Knowledge of CCTV, alarm and security systems (experience and formal qualification will be advantageous).
- Incident/accident investigation experience (formal qualification will be advantageous).
Qualifications
- Grade 12/Matric.
- 10 years related experience.
- Tertiary qualification in Security or Risk Management.
- PSIRA Grade A Qualified, ROIT/Tactical/Strike/Events management qualification or equivalent.
- Computer proficient in MS Office package.
- SA Driver's License.
- SAPS Competency to handle a Handgun and Shotgun (Business Purposes).
- SETA Approved 4x4.
- Armed Reaction Experience and Qualification (NQF & SASETA recognised).
