An exciting HR Practitioner position is available at Chiltern Farms, a growing fruit/packing company in Vyeboom, Western Cape. This dynamic Agri business emphasizes modern agriculture through technology and continuous improvement. The purpose of the role is to partner operationally and contribute to the accomplishment of the company’s objectives, through providing line managers and employees with HR guidance, whilst maintaining accountability of effective delivery of HR services. The successful candidate will report to the Group HR Manager.
Summary
Recruitment, Selection, and Administration
- Assist with end-to-end recruitment processes including writing & refining job descriptions, screening, conducting interviews and consulting on hiring decisions in collaboration with line managers.
- Manage onboarding and termination processes as well as maintain employee records throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Participate in the job grading process.
Labour Relations & Compliance
- Facilitate timely resolution of labour relations matters and advise according to company policies and labour regulations.
- Build open communication channels and maintain sound relationships with employees and unions.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and promote a positive work environment.
Organisational Capability Building
- Conduct skills gap analysis and align training budget/plan accordingly in support of operational and strategic objectives.
- Drive performance management, training initiatives and succession plans in accordance with business needs.
HR Data Analytics and Insights
- Gather, analyse and interpret HR data; identify key trends and contribute to HR insights that enable the diagnosis of business issues, enhancement of employee engagement, and/or improvement of business (Monthly Reporting).
Special Projects
- Conduct HR assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Drive special HR projects according to business needs and strategy.
HR Generalist Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree/Higher diploma in HR Management or Industrial Psychology
- 5+ years of HR Generalist experience in a unionised environment
- Experience in Agricultural, packhouse, or FMCG environments is a plus
- Work flexible hours as per operational requirements
- Must have own transport and valid driver’s license
Skills and Knowledge
- Good knowledge of relevant Acts (BCEA, SD13, LRA, EEA, SDA, OHSA) & Siza
- Good Industrial Relations (IR) experience, including CCMA conciliation/arbitration
- Intermediate MS Office skills
- Sage People and Farm Trace experience is advantageous
