Job Description
Old Mutual Insure is looking for a Chief Enterprise Architect. Responsibilities will include defining and maintaining OMI’s overall enterprise architecture strategy and architecture. This role ensures that the architecture roadmap aligns with business objectives and drives innovation, efficiency, and scalability across the enterprise. The Chief Enterprise Architect provides strategic guidance, ensures investments promote business value, and establishes a governance framework that promotes effective decision-making and risk management. This position is also responsible for fostering collaboration between IT and business units to ensure the technological environment supports the company's growth, technological transformation, and long-term goals.
You would:
- Define and maintain Enterprise Architecture standards: Develop, document, and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and guidelines that ensure consistent architecture practices across the organization.
- Align technology strategy with business goals: Collaborate with senior leadership and business units to ensure that the IT strategy and architecture support the organization's business objectives, growth, and digital transformation efforts.
- Lead architectural governance: Establish and oversee governance frameworks to ensure compliance with architecture principles, standards, and methodologies, including technology selection, implementation, and lifecycle management.
- Oversee the development of architectural roadmaps: Design long-term architectural roadmaps that guide the evolution of technology infrastructure, applications, and data management to meet business and operational needs.
- Assess and mitigate technology risks: Identify potential risks related to technology adoption, cybersecurity, and system integration, and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure resilience, security, and compliance.
- Promote innovation and emerging technology adoption: Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending and leading the adoption of cutting-edge solutions that can enhance business agility, productivity, and competitiveness.
- Ensure system integration and interoperability: Ensure all technology solutions are compatible and integrated across the enterprise, facilitating seamless data exchange, system functionality, and communication between platforms.
- Lead the evaluation of new technology investments: Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that align with the architecture strategy, ensuring they provide value to the organization while considering cost, scalability, and security.
- Manage and mentor the enterprise architecture team: Lead and develop a team of enterprise architects, ensuring they have the skills, tools, and support needed to implement the organization’s architectural vision effectively.
- Support technological transformation initiatives: Provide strategic direction and architectural guidance for technological transformation projects, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's architecture principles and objectives.
- Champion best practices in technology use: Promote and enforce best practices in software development, cloud computing, data management, and infrastructure design to ensure the organization’s systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Experience, knowledge & skills required
- Bachelor’s degree or similar
- TOGAF certified, or similar
- 12+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture
- 5+ years of IT Leadership Experience
- Proven experience in IT leadership roles, with a focus on enterprise architecture, technology strategy, and digital transformation.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing enterprise architecture frameworks and solutions across large and complex organizations.
- Experience leading digital transformation initiatives, leveraging emerging technologies.
The Recruitment process:
- TA Interview: This will be a discussion with a member of the TA Team to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow up the opportunity to get to know you a little better, and ensure OMI can meet your needs.
- Panel Interview: This will be with members of the senior leadership.
- Second panel Interview: This will be with members of the senior leadership.
- Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with MIE & Internal Verification.
