We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Technologist to join our KZN team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and managing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from conceptual to detailed design, documentation, and contract administration of services for civil infrastructure projects, including but not limited to:
- Municipal services such as earthworks, stormwater reticulation, sewer reticulation, and water reticulation.
- Ensure all designs are checked and approved by the relevant manager prior to forwarding to clients and contractors.
- Perform due diligence on the impact and feasibility of new construction sites.
- Prepare feasibility reports.
- Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders as required.
- Assist with the implementation of medium to large-sized projects within technical standards, quality, budgets, and time frames.
- Ensure effectiveness, quality, and profitability of completed projects, including project follow-up to monitor deliverables and client satisfaction levels.
- Provide site supervision as required.
- Contribute to the preparation of project reports and exhibit proficiency in technical report writing.
- Have a working understanding of project finances and budgets for medium to large-scale projects.
- Survey new construction sites and assess existing structures for upgrades.
- Demonstrate sound project management skills by liaising and cooperating with clients and stakeholders at various stages.
- Prepare estimates of construction costs (BOQ).
- Prepare specifications and preambles for construction works (Colto/Coto/SANS/GCC/etc.).
Qualifying Criteria:
- Completed minimum B.Eng or BTech.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint).
- No less than 5 years’ experience in a similar position within a consulting engineering firm (preferred).
- Proficient in design packages.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is essential.
- Technical knowledge of drawing and design processes.
- Project management experience is essential.
- Structural experience is advantageous.
