We are currently recruiting for a National Finance Executive to join our dynamic team, based in the Central Office - Pinetown (Durban).
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and expertise in the Finance function in order to assist the business make sound business decisions to achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial leadership to the Build it teams by building a culture of continuous improvement and financial business acumen at a National and Regional level.
- Participate in the general management duties by being the catalyst between financial knowledge and operations for both Wholesale and retail.
- Assist all Build it departments with financial modelling around Group initiative and projects.
- Responsible for the preparation of budgets and forecasts, thereafter, ensuring actuals are in line.
- Manage and provide leadership to the National Build it Finance team by building a culture of continuous improvement and staff development.
- Ensure that the Build it financial strategic plan is in line with the group strategic plan and ensure a successful execution thereof.
- Ensure collaboration between wholesale and retail with respect to financial excellence and compliance.
- Ensuring statutory compliance to SPAR group, legislation and auditor Requirements.
- Build Cohesive relationships with Build it Retailers, suppliers, Build it staff and the Guild.
- Provide leadership to retailers by sharing financial knowledge and expertise specific to the Build it operations via presenting at leadership programs such as LDP and MIP.
- Interpret financial statements and take corrective action where necessary.
- Manage the internal audit process.
- Help develop and grow the brand at retail, while growing a network of sustainable Build it retail stores and members.
- Develop National business financial growth strategies in conjunction with Build it departments and regional heads.
- Ensure implementation of Best Operating Procedures (BOP) in retail finance in line with national standardized processes regarding financial reporting.
- Drive retail operational support, standardize and improve related service levels in line with national strategy.
- Manage the corporate identity of the brand through ensuring and monitoring that the Build it stores are adhering to acceptable financial standards.
- Help regional teams to assemble budgets in line with Build it strategy, growth plans and special projects.
- Manage the National and regional cost centre and related regional Guild expenses within budget.
- Ensure that principles of good corporate governance are practiced within Build it as defined in various Group policies and Code of Ethics.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric), pre-requisite.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Executive/Senior Management (equivalent to Patterson EL/DU band) specific to finance portfolio.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience specific to the building and hardware retail industry, with a track record of strong Customer Care focus.
- Excellent financial and business acumen.
- Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Practice (GART) and Financial modelling.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting process.
- Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Forecasting and budgeting.
- Preparation of management reports.
- Current VAT Legislature knowledge.
- SAP - Finance Module experience.
- Good Tax and Accounting knowledge and experience.
- Strategic thinking capability and market awareness.
- Track record of meeting operational objectives and customer expectations.
- Personal characteristics: high energy, self-starter, collaborative, attention to detail, exceptional communication and relationship building skills, ability to handle pressure.
- Personal values: honesty, integrity and reliability.
- Ability to listen, consult, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
- Ability to be decisive and act with urgency when required.
- Prepared to work flexible working hours based on job demands and operational deadlines.
- Emotional maturity and resilience is essential.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Public speaking/presentation ability to large crowds.
- Driver’s Licence.
