Senior Business Developer
We are supporting our client in the Renewable Energy sector who is currently seeking a Senior Business Developer to be based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This role will report to the Regional Head of Business Development, and the responsibilities will include:
- Possessing a detailed understanding of legislation pertaining to energy investments on the market and monitoring developments.
- Having a strong understanding of the competitive environment and performing analyses enabling the development of the organisation's business strategy.
- Developing a partner acquisition strategy.
- Identifying, analysing, negotiating for, and securing business opportunities meeting the organisation's investment guidelines, including developments, acquisitions, participation in competitive processes (private and public), and commercial origination on a bilateral basis with large energy off-takers, subject to budget and time constraints.
- Preparing all documentation and attending meetings necessary for investment approval, whether internal or external.
- Contributing to various planning and budgeting processes.
- Maintaining and developing company culture, values, and reputation in the market with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners, and regulatory/official bodies.
You will need:
- A deep knowledge of renewable energy business, energy markets (including regulation), and related technologies.
- Investment valuation principles.
- Corporate finance.
- Strong understanding of the renewable energy environment.
- Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
- Experience in Business Development, investment analysis, or commercial positions.
- International experience will be advantageous.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
- Willingness to travel frequently within this position to various countries.
