Job Description
The Junior Laboratory Technician shall be responsible for performing analytical tests on Chemical, Petroleum, Agricultural and other food related products. This is to determine whether a product conforms/does not conform to Client’s specifications. The Junior Laboratory Technician will work and report test results under the close supervision of a Senior Laboratory Technician.
- Perform analysis using approved and valid test methods e.g. ASTM, IP, AOCS, BP etc.
- All analysis to be performed with the highest level of accuracy and precision.
- Ensure that all analytical equipment is calibrated before use.
- Ensure that all analytical solutions and reagents are standardized before use.
- Maintain a calibration schedule for all analytical equipment.
- Label all analytical equipment with unique identification numbers and calibration status.
- Record calibration data accurately and in the correct documentation for traceability purposes.
- Maintain records of all raw data and calculations for traceability purposes.
- Ensure that all reference materials are valid and traceable to an approved supplier.
- Report immediately any deficiencies and malfunctions to the Laboratory Manager.
- Report immediately any non-conformances to the Laboratory Manager.
- Rectify non-conformances through corrective/preventative actions.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum academic qualification is National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years testing experience in Petroleum / Chemical related industry. Subject to management's discretion.
