Position Overview:
Royal Tyres is a proud, established business that has been in existence for over 80 years. Its strategic aims are geared towards accelerated growth and expansion in a fast changing and dynamic environment. As such, there is a need to support the people business goals and build on the existing practices by growing the team. This newly developed role is expected to assist the business with providing accurate accounting function as Junior accountant.
The company is looking for an incumbent who is a self-starter and who can work at all levels, and who will enrich and advance the Accounts Team.
The person should have a wide knowledge of various accounting functions. We require a committed and approachable individual with a dynamic character and strong interpersonal skills, high initiative and somebody who is curious and responsive to the business environment. The person is expected to provide excellent assistance and support to employees and managers.
The ideal candidate will be expected to assist with maintaining effective and efficient accounting records and support, and develop talent in line with the company’s vision and mission. The person will also be responsible for administrative tasks and is therefore expected to be computer literate.
Qualifications, Skill, Experience & Competencies:
REQUIRED:
- Relevant degree in Accounting
- Must have articles
- Proven track record as junior accountant (3+ years experience)
- Understanding of SARS
- Proficient in MS/Excel Office.
- Knowledge and experience with audits
- Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong team player
- Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
- Strong ethics and reliability
- Change management knowledge, business and leadership skills.
- Results focused
- The ability to work in a fast changing environment without supervision
Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Key accountabilities :
DUTIES
- Oversee and assist with weekly reporting requirements.
- Oversee and assist with bank and control account ledger recons
- Prepare Monthly VAT Returns for Group
- Assist with the Preparation of Annual financial Statements for Group Companies and audit packs
- Preparation and submission of annual returns for the Group
- Oversee finance department employees and monitor workload on a weekly basis.
- Contract and liaise with outside services for auditing, insurance and other financial needs as necessary.
- Prepare Monthly Management Accounts.
- Ensure intercompany accounts are in balance monthly.
- Maintain a fixed assets register for group.
- Provide support to Accounts team.
- Provide support to Finance Manager.
- Ad hoc tasks
- Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
- Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
