Head of Finance
The role of the Head of Finance is the overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the company in pursuing its strategy. The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading and managing the finance team through time-critical periods including month-end, year-end, and quarterly budgeting processes.
The Head of Finance will have excellent communication skills with all levels of staff, suppliers, and stakeholders. He/she will need to work with all departments helping them plan and manage their own budgets, forecasts, and OKRs, understand key variances, and validate and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Managing and reporting on company finances
- Financially validating and recommending various strategic options available to the Company
- Measurement and analytics more broadly
- Draft and implement appropriate financial policies and all month-end, year-end, and quarterly budgeting processes
- Produce timely and comprehensive management accounts including all relevant OKRs, and present these to the leadership team
- Manage the organisation's cash flow and liquidity, and develop plans to optimise financial resources
- Keep the board advised of operational issues that may impact the financial performance of the business, and produce any necessary board packs
- Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the organisation's financial health and stability, and validate any changes in strategy to maximise cash flow and profitability
- Assess and manage financial risks, including credit and investment risks, and set recovery plans when there are variances in the accounts
- Liaise with the Company’s auditors and oversee the audit process
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws, and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies.
- Develop and maintain outstanding relationships with all stakeholders including management, staff, auditors, and investors
- Manage, develop, and grow all personnel within the finance function
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Degree in a business or finance related subject
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- At least 8 years (6 years if specific industry experience) post qualification experience in a related industry role
- Highly autonomous and self-motivated
- Strong financial modelling skills and scenario sensitivity
- Knowledge of the UK regulatory environment as it relates to the company’s activities (advantageous)
- Experience in a company with outside investors, preferably VC (advantageous)
