Introduction
We currently have an opportunity for a Procurement Officer – Technical Purchasing.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and qualify potential suppliers
- Build a reliable high-quality supplier and contractor base
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and agencies and manage day to day expenses
- Issue requests for quotations, evaluate quotations, analyze results and recommend suppliers in conformance with company standards
- Analyze product and supply chain cost
- Identify cost reduction opportunities
- Evaluate supplier performance, stability and institute improvements and corrective action as required
- Manage supplier delivery and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain procurement master files
- Compile and evaluate data for various weekly, monthly, and annual reports (cost reduction, market fluctuation, supplier ratings, budget variance, supplier expenditure)
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on various issues
- Initiate and implement improvements within the procurement department and the procurement process
- Liaise with respective specialist leaders in the business to identify specific requirements from the specialist suppliers and help secure the product and/or services required

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 – Matric
- Computer literate (SAP would be an added advantage)
- Proven track record in a similar role in an automotive/logistics/supply chain environment
- Experienced in managing direct operational costs
- Good understanding of commercial vehicles, OEMs, franchises, and related suppliers in the automotive segment
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicles and fleet management expenses (fuel, maintenance, tyres etc.)
- Understand contracts and service level agreements
- Must be an analytical thinker
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, address and resolve issues
- Must be able to handle and respond to situations in a professional and technically proficient manner
- Candidate with previous experience in a procurement position from a fleet leasing, banking environment would be advantageous
