Eventus Recruitment Cheshire are seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for the management and oversight of all financial operations for my client who operates within the property sector. This is a full-time permanent job based in North Manchester. In this role you will ensure the effective financial control and reporting, including the preparation of quarterly board reports and ad hoc financial analysis. Also, the Financial Controller will ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and legal requirements while supporting the leadership team in strategic financial planning. This job offers the opportunity to work extremely autonomously on a hybrid basis to suit your own needs with a holiday allowance of 28 days, rising with service. You will be part of a close and experienced team.
*Role Responsibilities*
Within this Financial Controller job, you will have the following areas of responsibility:
*Financial Reporting:*
* Preparing accurate and timely quarterly management accounts and financial reports for the Board.
* Preparing detailed financial analysis and reporting as required for the Executive Team and Board on an ad hoc basis.
* Ensuring that all financial information is presented in a format suitable for Committee and budget holders.
*Budgeting and Forecasting*:
* Leading the preparation of annual budgets and regular reforecasts, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
* Developing and maintaining 30-year financial projections for the organisation’s business plan.
* Monitoring expenditure against budgets and providing variance analysis reports to senior management.
*Cashflow Management & Treasury*:
* Managing cashflow and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational and capital expenditure.
* Overseeing the organisation’s borrowing, investments, and cash balances in line with the Treasury Management Strategy.
* Ensuring compliance with loan covenants and other financial obligations.
*Audit & Compliance:*
* Preparing for the annual external audit, including the provision of draft accounts and audit schedules.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, financial legislation, and good practice guidelines.
* Ensuring timely submission of statutory financial returns.
*Internal Controls:*
* Developing and maintaining strong financial control systems to safeguard the organisation’s assets and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
* Monitoring compliance with internal controls and recommend improvements where necessary.
*Strategic Financial Leadership:*
* Supporting the Executive Team in strategic financial planning, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
* Providing financial insight and support in decision-making processes, including investment and development projects.
* Playing an active role in the leadership team, contributing to the development and implementation of organisational strategies.
*Board and Committee Support:*
* Preparing financial reports for quarterly Board meetings, and presenting financial information to the Board as required.
* Providing financial advice and support to the Board and its sub-committees.
* Day-to-Day Banking and Credit Control:
* Overseeing day-to-day banking operations and ensure accurate bookkeeping.
* Managing the organisation’s credit control, ensuring the timely collection of receivables and resolving any issues related to payments.
*Rent Management and Reviews:*
* Managing rent arrears and ensure effective collection processes are in place.
* Leading the delivery of the annual rent reviews, working closely with the housing management team to implement any changes.
*Systems and Technology:*
* Ensuring proficiency in the use of Xero accounting software, and be willing to learn and adapt to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or other software tools used.
*Person Specification*
The successful Financial Controller will be ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. You will have at least five years of experience in a senior financial management role, ideally within the housing or charity sector. Also, you will possess strong knowledge of financial reporting, budget management, cashflow forecasting, and financial compliance and be proficient in Xero accounting system whilst having a familiarity with CRM software and a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems. Furthermore, you will have a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis is essential as well as the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including the Board.
