Electrical Quantity Surveyor
A leading electrical company, specializing in off-grid and hybrid energy solutions, based in Silverton, is currently looking for an Electrical Quantity Surveyor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate estimates for electrical materials, labour, and equipment required for construction projects.
- Tendering: Assist in the tendering process by analysing and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Budget Management: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring that costs are kept within the allocated budget.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or safety.
- Measurement and Billing: Take-off quantities from drawings and specifications to produce bills of quantities (BOQs) and invoices.
- Contract Administration: Review contracts and variations, ensuring that all parties adhere to contractual obligations.
- Cost Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports for project stakeholders, highlighting any deviations from the budget.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project costs or schedules.
- Collaboration: Liaise with other members of the project team, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure that electrical costs are accurately accounted for.
- Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical skills are necessary for accurately estimating costs and analysing data.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is important when reviewing project documentation and producing accurate cost estimates.
- Negotiation Skills: The ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favourable pricing is valuable.
- Time Management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines is important in this role.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in quantity surveying or electrical estimating within the construction industry.
- Experience specifically in electrical estimating or contracting is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel as well as Candy is essential.
- Familiarity with building information modelling (BIM) and other construction management software is beneficial.
Package & Remuneration
R25 000 - R30 000 CTC
