ALMA-Clinics (Alma) is a Primary healthcare (PHC) Nurse-Led Medical Technology Clinic network that leverages technology to make comprehensive primary care accessible and affordable. Our mission is to reduce complications related to non-communicable diseases in low-income markets.
Alma offers PHC services through a Digital PHC platform that empowers patients and nurses, shifting healthcare from curative to preventative . We aim to create a transparent healthcare system with the patient at the center, addressing current healthcare challenges and providing opportunities for the South African market.
Our solution utilizes innovative portable diagnostics and an AI-driven digital platform to enhance primary healthcare services through early diagnosis and treatment.
Duties & Responsibilities
The main tasks include:
- Patient-centred consultations across all ages in the clinic.
- Completing patient referral letters and acting as a point of contact with Doctors.
- Identifying patients' needs and problems through effective listening.
- Performing accurate and relevant physical examinations.
- Ensuring continuity of care with follow-up and review plans.
- Explaining the role and function of a clinical associate to the patient.
- Applying basic ethical principles and complying with statutory obligations.
- Demonstrating appropriate attitudes towards patients, families, communities, and colleagues.
- Reflecting relevant information in patient records accurately.
- Completing patient statistics accurately.
- Prescribing appropriate medication within scope of practice.
- Facilitating communication and providing basic counselling.
- Integrating understanding of family, community, and health systems into clinic operations.
- Providing guidance and support to clinical staff, ensuring compliance with protocols.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Three (3) year Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) University Degree.
- Current Registration with the Medical Board of the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Associate.
- Ability to speak local languages.
- Sound knowledge of the Health Act and related regulations.
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, and other relevant legal frameworks.
- Knowledge of Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the HPCSA.
- Understanding of the Scope of Practice for Clinical Associates.
- Broad knowledge of the Department’s programmes and priorities.
- Knowledge of Social Services related Acts and Regulations.
- Management of Trauma and Emergencies.
- Knowledge to treat chronic illnesses such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, and COAD.
