We collaborate with stakeholders to transform cutting edge ideas into life-changing products and we support the efficient and seamless on-market operational aspects thereof. We advance the field of next generation sequencing by developing cutting-edge reagents that reduce costs and increase accessibility to genomic technologies. Our collaborative and learning mindset provides opportunities to grow and change the future of diagnostics.
The Opportunity:
As a key member of the Discovery Bioinformatics team, you will be contributing to various cross-functional projects, primarily focused on research, innovation, and product development activities.
- You are participating in the design and testing of novel reagents to improve NGS accuracy, sensitivity, and efficiency.
- You are analysing sequencing and other omics data to validate reagent performance and troubleshooting issues.
- You are collaborating closely with lab scientists, bioinformaticians, and external partners to ensure seamless integration of reagents into NGS workflows.
- You are staying updated with the latest advancements in NGS technologies and incorporating them into reagent development, growing with our team as you progress in your career at Roche.
- You are learning new technologies and investigating their impact on making healthcare solutions affordable within a project and product context. Any improvement, regardless of magnitude, is key to making our solutions sustainable.
Who you are:
- You hold a degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in a computational or molecular biology-related discipline with experience deriving insights from large biological data sets.
- You are passionate about bridging the gap between computational biology and laboratory science to drive innovation in genomics.
- You understand NGS and sequencing library preparation and have experience analysing NGS data, e.g. WGS, WES, RNAseq, etc.
- You possess strong problem-solving skills and an ability to interpret complex data.
- You are experienced in Python for developing custom bioinformatics tools, with R being an advantage.
- You have knowledge of workflow managers (Snakemake, Nextflow) and their application to biological data processing and reproducible science.
- You possess good communication skills, a positive attitude, and enjoy helping people, while being known for your solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred:
- Exceptionally qualified applicants with many years of relevant experience without a degree are also encouraged to apply.
- You are well known for your independent, but collaborative working style.
