A leading accountancy practice based in Manchester is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their growing team. This role is perfect for someone who has experience working in a practice environment and is looking to take on more responsibility while managing a portfolio of clients across various sectors.
The Role:
As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of accounts for a wide range of clients. You will supervise junior staff and play a key role in delivering high-quality service to clients, ensuring compliance with regulations and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a portfolio of clients, including limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
- Preparing year-end accounts and financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Reviewing accounts prepared by junior staff and providing feedback and guidance.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts.
- Preparing corporate tax computations and assisting with tax planning.
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships, acting as the first point of contact for client queries.
- Supporting clients with software queries and advising on accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
- Ensuring that work is completed within deadlines and that all filing requirements are met.
- Assisting with training and development of junior team members.
- Keeping up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax regulations.
Requirements:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3-5 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
- Strong experience in preparing and reviewing accounts for a variety of clients.
- In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and Excel.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, with the ability to solve problems effectively.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff is desirable.
