Job Summary
The Intermediate Mechanical Draughtsman will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings of small to medium scale alluvial and artisanal gold mining equipment, components, and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software. This role is vital in supporting the company's mission of supplying a complete turnkey solution to customers, including after-sales service and field service management. The Intermediate Mechanical Draughtsman will work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure designs meet the required specifications and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of mining sites.
Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed and accurate drawings of mining equipment, components, and assemblies based on design specifications, engineering sketches, and input from other team members. This will involve working with a range of equipment, including:
o Jaw Crushers
o Chain Mills
o Hammer Mills
o Rod Mills
o Shaker Tables
o Concentrators
o Washplants
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company drafting conventions.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet requirements, incorporating feedback and addressing any technical queries.
• Develop and maintain drawing standards and templates, ensuring consistency and clarity across all project documentation.
• Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) from drawings, facilitating efficient procurement and manufacturing processes.
• Modify existing drawings to incorporate design changes or revisions, maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring a seamless workflow.
• Maintain organized and meticulously accurate drawing files, adhering to version control procedures and facilitating easy retrieval of information.
• Contribute to the creation of drawings that support maintenance and repair activities, ensuring ease of understanding for field technicians and supporting the company's commitment to providing comprehensive after-sales service.
• Assist in developing drawings related to "Rent to Own Services" agreements and any necessary equipment modifications for rental purposes, ensuring clarity and accuracy in depicting rental equipment specifications.
• Support the creation of drawings for "Prospecting Equipment" and "Geo Exploration Equipment," adhering to the specific requirements and functionalities of these specialized tools.
• Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a collaborative spirit to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
Skills and Qualifications
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software is mandatory, with a demonstrated ability to create accurate and detailed 2D and 3D drawings.
• Diploma or certificate in mechanical draughting or a related field is required, demonstrating a solid foundation in technical drawing principles and practices.
• A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles is essential, enabling effective interpretation of engineering designs and accurate translation into technical drawings.
• Practical experience in the mining equipment industry is highly desirable, particularly with small to medium scale alluvial and artisanal gold mining equipment, ensuring familiarity with the specific requirements of this sector.
