Description:
A manufacturing toolmaker produces, modifies and repairs the tools used in the manufacturing process.
a. Assembling, fitting and repairing tools
b. Following engineering drawings to measure and mark out the design for the tool
c. Using machinery such as lathes, presses, standard and CNC milling machines and surface grinders to cut and shape the tools
d. Using 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)
e. Using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers to check the dimensions
f. Monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements
g. Assisting with tool maintenance
Requirements:
1 Tool Die & Jig Apprenticeship
2 Experience of working in a factory environment is essential
2 Ability to manage a team and plan ahead
3 Basic mechanical ability
4 Ability to identify all components needed to complete assemblies
