Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently operate drilling equipment to drill holes in rock for blasting purposes in mining, construction, or quarrying operations.
Key Responsibilities
Drilling Operations:
Operate rock drilling equipment to drill holes for blasting.
Read and interpret drilling plans and specifications.
Set up and position drilling equipment at the designated drilling sites.
Monitor and adjust drilling parameters to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct pre-operational checks and maintenance on drilling equipment.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on drilling equipment.
Keep drilling equipment clean and in good working condition.
Document and report maintenance activities and issues.
Site Preparation and Clean-up:
Assist in preparing drilling sites, including clearing debris and leveling surfaces.
Ensure the drilling site is clean and safe before and after operations.
Dispose of waste materials and debris in accordance with environmental regulations.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other operators, blasters, and site personnel to coordinate drilling activities.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including hole depths, drilling times, and equipment usage.
Prepare and submit daily drilling reports to the supervisor.
