Job Overview
The Registered Aesthetics Nurse will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within a dynamic, aesthetically-focused medical practice. The role supports physicians through patient assessments, administering treatments (e.g., IV drips, mesotherapy), and providing patient education on skin care, lifestyle, and post-treatment maintenance. This role suits a compassionate and skilled individual adept at time management to optimise patient experience and maintain a seamless clinical workflow.
Primary Responsibilities
Patient Care & Assessments
- Conduct thorough initial patient evaluations, including health histories and vital signs monitoring.
- Administer treatments, such as IV drips, injections, and medications, while educating patients on procedures and treatment plans.
- Perform minor medical procedures within scope, including wound care and dressing changes.
Medical Treatments & Aesthetic Procedures
- Provide treatments tailored to client needs, including peels, facials, mesotherapy, and laser hair removal.
- Conduct pre-procedure assessments, obtain consent, and document each session.
- Perform body and facial hair removal and manage post-liposuction care and follow-up.
- Educate clients on weight management, supplementation, and skin care.
Coordination & Client Relations
- Manage patient appointments and follow-up schedules, ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice.
- Coordinate with clients to answer queries, address concerns, and advise on treatment options, products, and lifestyle changes.
- Follow up on patients, particularly those seen by Dr. Lanie, and respond to WhatsApp or other platform queries, ensuring they are completed or handed over responsibly.
Clinical Operations & Administration
- Sterilise and manage treatment rooms (e.g., lipo room) before and after procedures.
- Ensure inventory replacement, manage stock, and conduct regular stock takes.
- Assist with front-of-house duties, including welcoming guests, offering refreshments, and admin tasks (file creation, filing).
- Support the practice with quotations, invoicing, and administrative tasks, including client appointment reminders.
Team Collaboration & Development
- Assist physicians during procedures, document vitals, and handle equipment set-up and sterilisation.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and case discussions for optimal patient care outcomes.
- Engage with company representatives, maintain product knowledge on items like Mesoestetics, Is Clinical, Herbalife, etc., and keep current on treatment offerings.
Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Document all patient encounters, treatments, and observations accurately using the GoodX system, maintaining compliance with health and regulatory standards.
- Handle all patient records, including health histories, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.
Compliance & Safety Standards
- Follow all practice safety protocols, sterilisation, and infection control guidelines to maintain a sterile environment.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in patient interactions.
Key Requirements
- Education & Licensing: Diploma/Degree in Nursing; valid registration with the Nursing Council of South Africa.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in a clinical/medical setting; experience with IV drips required.
- Knowledge: Skin anatomy, biology, physiology, pharmacology, patient management, cosmetic chemistry, and basic to advanced life support.
