The key performance areas for the Laboratory Technologist role are:
Laboratory Operations: - Maintain lab cleanliness and equipment integrity following good lab practices.
- Conduct daily validation of equipment, update calibration records, and ensure periodic inspection and maintenance.
- Perform final testing of products per SOPs, report any variances, and analyze incoming raw materials.
- Record data on product and raw material databases, print batch stickers, and request labels for specific products.
- Conduct QC testing on raw materials and finished products, update cardex, and create and distribute COAs.
- Assist with stock taking and provide training for interns and junior staff.
Research and Development: - Support product R&D to meet customer specifications, collect raw materials, and perform necessary blends.
- Investigate customer complaints and purchase, standardize lab reagents.
- Send samples for external testing and record results.
ISO 9001 Compliance: - Adhere to ISO 9001:2015 standards, develop and finalize SOPs, conduct internal audits, and prepare for external audits.
- Train staff on SOPs relevant to laboratory procedures.
HSE - Comply with the HSE requirements for PPE
- Maintain HSE standards for laboratory
- Ensure the laboratory is kept clean and tidy to prevent accidents, spills and near misses
Experience and Qualifications: - Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or a BSc in Chemistry.
- 3-5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing industry.
- Grade 12 (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of chemistry and hands-on experience with lab equipment, including calibration and maintenance.
- Valid Drivers License (Code 8 minimum) and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards like ISO is an advantage.
Computer Literacy: - Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
