- Product Sourcing & Vendor Management: Source and negotiate with suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure consistent quality and competitive pricing.
- Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement category strategies to align with business goals, ensuring the right mix of products and materials for bespoke pieces and core jewellery lines.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels ensuring optimal inventory levels to meet production demands without overstocking or shortages.
- Demand Forecasting & Sales Analysis: Use historical sales data and market trends to forecast demand. Adjust inventory and sourcing plans based on performance analysis.
- Pricing & Margin Management: Work closely with the finance team to set pricing strategies that maximize profitability while ensuring competitiveness in the market.
- Collaboration with Design & Production Teams: Liaise with in-house designers and craftsmen to understand material needs for bespoke orders and new designs. Ensure the timely availability of required materials for seamless production.
- Trend Analysis & Market Research: Stay up to date on industry trends, particularly in diamonds, gems, and jewellery design. Use this insight to influence buying and planning decisions.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all materials sourced meet the company’s strict quality standards, particularly in terms of cut, clarity, color, and craftsmanship.
- Reporting & Analytics: Prepare regular reports on category performance, stock levels, sales forecasts, and supplier performance.
Requirements
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or procurement, ideally within the jewellery or luxury goods industry.
- Jewellery Knowledge: Strong understanding of diamonds, gems, and other materials used in jewellery production.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and forecasting skills, with experience in inventory management and sales analysis.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven experience in negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with designers, craftsmen, and production teams to ensure material availability and alignment with creative vision.
- Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail, particularly in relation to quality control and trend analysis.
- Education: A degree or diploma in business management, supply chain, or a related field. Knowledge of gemology or jewellery design is a plus.
- Software: Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software; advanced Excel skills.
