Listed group requires candidate with solid experience working as a safety practitioner in the mining industry.
The role is based in Secunda.
The role purpose is to implement and maintain SHE Risk processes, standards, and procedures within the framework of legislation, ISO, and Risk.
This position reports to the Operations Team Leader/ SHEQ Manager and will suit someone who resides in the Secunda area and has relevant experience working in the mining/oil and gas industries in the SHEQ environment.
The advertised salary is basic gross; the company contributes towards medical aid and provident fund, and pays a general car allowance with fuel and insurance over and above the basic salary.
Main Duties Will Include:
- Control, review, and update safety systems ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001
- Incorporate SHEQ risks into the SHEQ register
- Implement health and safety procedures and develop local work procedures to comply with legal obligations
- Liaise with on-site contractors to ensure their compliance with company safety regulations/safety standards/safety induction training
- Manage standards and procedures according to the requirements of the OHSAS guidelines and ISO standards
- Implement and maintain an effective program to ensure compliance to satisfy legal requirements e.g., the OHS, COID, NEMA, and Environmental Conservation Acts
- Render an OHS service to ensure compliance with the OHS Act and a safe working environment
- Communicate the health and safety policy and all related plans and procedures across the organization
- Participate in multi-disciplinary and specialist SHE Risk workgroups to enhance and formulate divisional operation risk-specific audits
- Coordinate and implement risk-specific programs of dynamic risk identification and risk evaluation
- Ensure the maintenance of implemented SHE Risk systems and processes
- SHE risk auditing functions / Implement, monitor, and manage BU standards and procedures
- Reactive Risk Management: accident reporting, recording, and investigations
- Plan and conduct medical surveillance, alcohol, and drug testing programs
- SHE Risk administration
- Monitor waste management and recycling
Required Skills And Qualifications: - Matriculation Certificate
- National Diploma / B Tech degree / B Com degree in safety Risk related Management science
- 3 - 5 years integrated management experience (Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and/or Quality systems, Processes and Process Mapping and operational management experience in the mining industry)
- Valid Driver's license - non-negotiable, as the successful candidate will need to travel to sites in line with this job requirements
- Resident in Secunda area/region
