As the Data Governance Analyst, you will collaborate with business data owners to ensure our client's data is well understood, documented according to the required standards, maintained in a comprehensive catalogue and made available to those who require it. This data will enable quality insights supporting our client's strategy of person-centered health and care.
You will manage the integrity, efficiency and availability of data as well as the flow of data information which may include developing and implementing data standards and creating methods for monitoring and reporting any data incidents.
Key Requirements:
- Information management, information systems, and computer science qualifications essential
- DAMA or equivalent data management certification. Essential
- Bachelor's Degree at the appropriate NQF level in the area of information management, information systems, computer sciences or a related field advantageous
- 3+ years of experience working within the area of data analytics
- Experience in business process modelling and business process analysis
- Strong technical ability in data modelling, design, SQL and analytics tools
- Previous experience with data processing systems
- Exposure to the healthcare industry advantageous
- Proven track record in business process analysis, systems and data analysis
- Solution-focused and strong collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
Data Governance Analytics:
- Collaborate with business line data owners to ensure that all critical elements including metadata are captured into the data catalogue in line with our client's standards and policy.
- Collaborate with their data quality colleagues to ensure that data quality issues are prioritised and that quality metrics are an integral component of the data standard.
- Assist the business in writing meaningful descriptions for all data elements.
- Manage the flow, integrity, availability and efficiency of our client's Data.
- Document the lineage of critical data across the group.
- Analyse data gaps within the business areas by studying current reporting and analytical practices.
- Support the identification of gaps between current data governance requirements and to-be requirements.
- Resolve all internal data exceptions in a timely and accurate manner and develop good relationships with stakeholders across the business to resolve data governance issues.
- Ensure that the business has access to complete and accurate data to support decision-making.
- Ensure that patient, doctor and institutional static data are consistently and effectively managed across the group.
- Support Data Analysts and others who need to generate value from data to find and use the data they need appropriately.
- Identify and resolve data governance problems and collaborate with business partners to gather and understand functional requirements, develop complex queries and provide reports.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure that appropriate data governance controls are built into systems, analytical tools and integration layers.
Risk, Data and Compliance Management and Reporting:
- Support the implementation and update of Data Governance procedures, standards, training documents, presentations and Data Governance detail plans.
- Participate in the process towards compliance with improvement interventions and provide regular progress reports to the Team Lead: Data Management.
- Oversee the collation, distribution and presentation of data and statistics as required by business.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, policies, procedures, best practices, professional standards as well as our client's strategy.
- Review and update all policies relating to data governance.
Transformation Strategy:
- Ensure achievement of transformation goals as set out by the Transformation Committee.
