Requirements (to be included on CV ):
- Bachelor of Education or Bachelor's degree with PGCE -or- Currently in the process of completing a degree.
- SACE / Provisionally registered.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assisting the mentor teacher: Support the physical education teacher by helping to prepare lesson plans, setting up equipment, and ensuring that all materials are available for the day's activities.
- Supervising learners: Monitor and oversee learners during PE classes to ensure a safe environment. Provide guidance and help manage learners’ behaviour, reinforcing positive attitudes and respect among participants.
- Conducting Activities: Help conduct physical activities and exercises under the guidance of the mentor teacher. Offer hands-on assistance during activities to ensure that learners effectively participate and engage.
- Individual Support: Provide additional support to learners who may require extra assistance, whether due to individual educational needs or physical limitations. Adapt activities as needed to ensure inclusivity.
- Safety Management: Ensure that all safety protocols are observed. Be vigilant about potential hazards and maintain awareness of learners’ health, acting swiftly should any issue arise.
- Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining records of learners’ progress, attendance, and participation. Help in documenting any incidents or notable achievements during PE classes.
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and storage of sports equipment, ensuring everything is in good condition and ready for use.
- Promoting Physical Fitness: Encourage a positive attitude towards physical activity and healthy living. Help foster an environment where learners feel motivated to participate and improve their fitness levels.
- Communication: Facilitate effective communication between learners, teachers, and parents regarding learner’s progress and any concerns related to physical education activities.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest trends and strategies in physical education to bring fresh, effective ideas into the classroom. Participate in training sessions as required.
