Position Outline:
Kantey & Templer is reviewing candidates for the position of Candidate Quantity Surveyor . The candidate will perform quantity surveying functions in line with SACQSP requirements for a candidate quantity surveyor in a consultancy practice working towards professional registration.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Carry out duties associated with both consultant and contractor Quantity Surveying and Project Management, engaging responsibly in all aspects of the role while seeking support from senior staff.
- Preparation of cost feasibilities, approximate estimates, cost planning, Bills of Quantities, Specifications, and Schedule of Rates in accordance with relevant standards.
- Support senior team members in the day-to-day management and delivery of projects.
- Prepare and administer procurement advice, tenders, and tender reviews.
- Follow the company’s quality assurance process on all projects.
- Prepare and administer various contract forms for both consultants and contractors.
- Ensure standard documentation is used when presenting external information.
- Prepare and administer Interim valuations, Contractors’ claims, and settlement of Final Accounts.
- Conduct site visits/inspections.
- Manage contractors on-site.
- Work across different projects where applicable.
- Assist in preparing contract variations for review with senior staff.
- Undertake relevant training as required by the organization.
- Assist senior staff in their role as Employer’s Agent / Contract Administrator.
- Prepare and update standard cost databases and profiles.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies.
- Carry out instructions issued by Senior Staff and Directors.
Qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Tertiary Qualification.
- Experience in WINQS, MS Word, and Excel.
- 3-5 years of work experience is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of quantity surveying and the built environment.
Computer Literacy:
- Experience in WINQS, MS Word, and Excel.
Personality Profile:
- Able to work in a team, proactive, shows initiative, able to work independently, takes pride in work, and demonstrates good time management.
