Duties & Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure communication and interaction with family and health professionals regarding optimal patient care, acting as a patient advocate when necessary.
- Assess, plan, and implement advanced nursing care in accordance with standard procedures and medical direction.
- Initiate, direct, and maintain emergency treatment (RESUS) for patients in any department of the hospital.
- Diagnose and treat emergency patients quickly, effectively, and efficiently within the Scope of Practice.
- Conduct rounds with the physician to review patient conditions, develop care plans, and participate in patient care.
- Evaluate patient care needs, initiate individualized nursing care plans, and coordinate patient services.
- Prepare shift documentation reflecting patient status and issues.
- Communicate with the unit manager regarding activities and problems.
- Evaluate, set standards, and monitor safe utilization of supplies and equipment.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Education and Experience:
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to implement and maintain standards of health practice required by accredited bodies and legislation.
- Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in intensive care nursing.
