We are looking to appoint a Sourcing Manager within the UniPharma division of our business. The role will report to the GM UniPharma and be based at our Head Office in Cape Town.
Job Purpose:
To drive the profitable growth of UniPharma including managing the NPD process by sourcing new products, managing and driving the current portfolio alongside relevant stakeholders to ensure that products are delivered to the market from opportunity identification to consistent sell through in line with business strategy.
Job Objectives:
- To analyse and research data on market and product trends to identify and respond to new opportunities on an adhoc basis.
- To evaluate and to determine commercial viability of dossiers from manufacturers to deliver the UniPharma requirements and budgets.
- To effectively manage relationships with manufacturers to ensure successful and timeous product launches and sell through of UniPharma products to meet budget requirements.
- To actively manage the process of comprehensive packaging and branding development in line with approved Style guides.
- To create, develop and manage marketing material, POS and educational material as approved by the RP to ensure product sell through.
- To investigate and analyse product sales on an ongoing basis and take appropriate action to ensure financial targets are met.
- To engage and share relevant information with the operational teams to ensure that UniPharma’s sales metrics are achieved.
- To engage with the Industry Key Accounts team in respect of new launches and price adjustments aligned to key medical scheme requirements.
- To effectively negotiate the commercial terms and conditions of agreements with new and existing suppliers with the assistance of the GM for UniPharma.
- To sustain and build on current relationships, and grow new supplier relationships, within the industry on behalf of UniPharma.
- To identify opportunities, source, secure and launch new products/medicines to increase the sales and profitability of UniPharma in line with financial expectations and goals, across various channels and medicine categories.
- To engage with the Frontshop Health team regarding any opportunities to source Schedule 0 products in-line with their strategic and financial requirements.
- To liaise with the Clicks Pharmacy Commercial team to agree on a promotional grid for UniPharma products.
- To keep abreast of new pharmaceutical and regulatory trends in terms of dosage forms, active ingredients, possible regulatory changes within SAPC, MCC and DoH.
Job related knowledge:
- Knowledge of new product development processes and of product quality standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of stock flow processes through a supply chain.
- Knowledge of merchandise functions e.g., sourcing, buying, supply chain, etc.
- Knowledge of financial planning and modelling.
- Knowledge of margin calculations.
- Knowledge of the Consumer Protection Act.
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act and the Medicines Act (Act 101).
- Knowledge of the GMP requirements and regulatory requirements/constraints wrt packaging/marketing.
- Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry in South Africa.
- Knowledge of marketing principles.

Experience:
- Essential: 3-5 years Scheduled Medicine experience in manufacturing or retail pharmaceutical related/medical working environment.
- Essential: A minimum of 10 years’ experience within Pharmaceutical wholesale, manufacturing or supplier.
- Desirable: Exposure to product marketing and product launching.
- Desirable: Overall product manufacturing experience.
Education:
- Essential: Relevant 3 year B. Degree or Diploma (commercial/finance management or related).
