We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Team Leader Field Modification position within the Services department. The position will report to the Manager Depot and is based in Wolmerton Depot, Pretoria North.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safety and productivity of all Field Modification Operators. Additionally, the Field Modification Team Leader is accountable for ensuring that activities scheduled for completion are safely executed in a timely manner and within all quality parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice.
- Constantly seek the QCD performance improvement proposing with his team.
- Monthly proposition of improvement ideas.
- Knowing proper procedures for the team to follow and ensuring that they comply.
- The leader might be called upon to share special industry techniques on how to use tools and equipment, or tips on how to improve quality or speed of production.
- Act as a Field Modification Operator when necessary (schedule, workload…).
- Ensure that the team members are supplied with PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and protective outer clothing.
- Safety checks on all equipment operated throughout the production process, as well as monitoring activities of workers during production.
- Responsible for meeting quality assurance standards as set by industry programs, such as ISO and Six Sigma.
- Make sure that all product specifications and manufacturing procedures comply with regulations.
- Setting high standards to reach production goals, ensuring that higher quantities produced do not compromise quality. If defects are discovered in products, it is the Team Leader's responsibility to come up with solutions.
- Read technical reports and manuals as and when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 and or minimum N3 Certificate.
- Qualified Red Seal – Mechanical or Electrical Trade Tested.
- Must have 2 years’ experience in the relevant field managing teams.
- Knowledge of trade techniques, tools, principles, and equipment selection.
- Ability to operate hand power tools, slings, drilling machines, grinders, and other hand tools related to the job requirement.
- Read, interpret and apply technical documents (work instructions, safety instructions, etc.).
- Versatility and the ability to assimilate different special and critical processes.
- Should be technically minded and practical.
