SPAR Stone Square is recruiting for an Assistant Food Services Manager (based in Stellenbosch - Cape Town) to assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day management tasks of running the food service departments to the required store standards.
Responsibilities:
- Able to run a shift and take responsibility for running the food service departments and overseeing the remaining store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Manage the bakery staff, kitchen staff, and service counter staff.
- Ensure bakery and kitchen production to planned schedules – baked goods and daily meal offerings.
- Experience in Menu Planning and Costings will be required.
- Staff management and training – able to impart skills and empower staff.
- Oversee ingredient orders and manage the purchase budget.
- Manage weekly and year-end stock takes.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety and obtain a minimum audit score of 95% across the food service departments.
- Implement proactive and corrective action based on food safety standards and audits.
- Shift and weekend work is required.
- Proven management experience and a disciplined and consistent staff management ability.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of previous experience in a catering service and/or an industrial/commercial kitchen is essential.
- Grade 12 is required.
- Culinary qualification is advantageous.
- Good client liaison and interpersonal skills.
- Strong admin and computer skills (Excel, Outlook, World Wide Web).
- Must be able to work independently.
- Own transport and a valid driver’s license.
- Be a neat and well-organized person.
- A passion for food and service.
- Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans.
