Job Description
The purpose of this role is to provide effective control, management, and supervision of stock (final product) in the New Market Cold Store whilst maintaining efficiencies, quality, and cost control.
County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, has this great opportunity based at the New Market Cold Store facility in Epping.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Overall supervision and management of final products, overseeing proper storage, organization, and maintenance of stock.
- Coordinating the movement of final products between the Cold Storage facility and external storage areas, ensuring a seamless transition of products while maintaining accurate records.
- Facilitating internal stock transfers across different sections of the warehouse, optimizing stock distribution to meet production or distribution demands.
- Addressing and resolving any potential delays in stock movement or transfers, implementing strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure efficient stock flow.
- Ensuring the implementation of effective stock storage procedures, including proper marking, stacking, and labeling of products for accurate tracking and easy retrieval.
- Supervising the handling of returned products and overseeing the credit process to ensure proper documentation and resolution.
- Coordinating stock movements to and from external storage facilities, optimizing logistics and maintaining stock integrity.
- Monitoring and optimizing freezer space utilization, ensuring efficient storage of products while minimizing wastage.
- Enforcing compliance with company and client standards, focusing on Food Safety, Product Recall, and Documentation Control.
- Ensuring proper stock rotation based on expiry dates, minimizing waste and ensuring the distribution of quality products.
- Conducting thorough facility inspections to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Leading, managing, and developing the staff involved in stock management, providing training, guidance, and maintaining discipline.
- Creating and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports to track stock control efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitoring and controlling budget and expenses related to stock control and the stock control team, ensuring financial reconciliation.
- Implementing and actively participating in the "20 Keys" methodology, involving the stock control team in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performing regular weekly and monthly stock takes, reconciling inventory for the entire cold room facility as well as external storage locations.
- Managing housekeeping activities and coordinating necessary repairs for racking and storage equipment.
- Communicating with internal and external colleagues and service providers to ensure a high standard of work from the Logistics and stock control team.
- Maintaining a consistent and efficient stock flow from storage areas to the locations where the products are required, monitoring stock levels and proactively arranging for replenishment as needed.
The requirements for the position are:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
- A tertiary qualification will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in FMCG stock control, logistics, warehouse, cold storage, stock control, and administration.
- Advanced computer skills, including high levels of data entry speed and accuracy.
- Microsoft Office (MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel - at advanced level).
- INFOR LN system or any other ERP system experience.
- WMS experience will be advantageous.
- MyChep pallet and lug management system experience will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations activities, material handling equipment, warehouse systems, and pallet management software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be numerate and literate (apply mathematics calculations).
- Able to communicate well in both English and Afrikaans languages.
- Must be honest, self-driven, responsible, and able to use own initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and swiftly resolve employee and management queries.
- Basic understanding of the 20 Keys concept is essential.
- Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure.
- It is essential that the successful candidate be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport is essential.
- Due to the nature of the job, extra hours may be required from time to time, which may necessitate working into the evening, public holidays, or on weekends. The incumbent may also be required to travel from time to time.
