A private equity-backed multinational firm based in Cape Town is seeking a Management Accountant to oversee financial controls for the Head Office and group operations.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes across the organisation. As a Management Accountant, you will not only handle key accounting functions but also play a vital role in mentoring junior team members and driving improvements in internal procedures. You will be involved in analysing financial performance, reconciling inter-company transactions, and maintaining compliance with IFRS standards.
The scope of the role includes overseeing the Finance Assistant's activities and ensuring accurate month-end reporting. You will contribute to the growth of the business by providing insightful financial analysis and recommendations to department Directors. Key qualifications and experience for the Management Accountant:
- A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in a large, complex organisation
- Experience in transaction processing and reconciliations
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel
Key duties for the Management Accountant include but are not limited to:
- Supervise and assist the Finance Assistant, providing support for transaction processing and month-end tasks
- Approve inter-company sales invoices and reconcile them with budget recharge schedules
- Perform monthly reconciliations of group costs and analyse the profit and loss statements by department, region, and project
- Manage payroll accounting and control account reconciliations, ensuring prompt resolution of discrepancies
- Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure compliance with IFRS16 for lease accounting
- Analyse inter-company loans, prepare loan agreements, and produce group dividend minutes
- Conduct reconciliations of inter-company P&L codes and accruals
- Prepare inter-company elimination journals and conduct monthly margin checks
