Boston City Campus has a number of vacancies for Educators in the distance mode of provision for its higher education qualifications. These positions are remote and report to the Stellenbosch academic head office. The fields in which we require Educators are:
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Educator include, but are not limited to, the following key performance areas:
Management of Modules:
- Facilitation of the learning and teaching of specifically allocated modules according to the syllabi congruent with the higher education programme
- Adherence to the published calendars and timetables.
- Timeous upload of quality assured teaching, learning and assessment collateral.
- Timeous responses to student queries.
Student Support:
- Be committed and available to support students consistently and timeously.
- Ensure that relevant Boston policies and procedures are implemented.
Teaching and Learning:
- Ensure that the teaching and learning and assessment strategy for the module/s is aligned to the Institution’s pedagogical approach, and policies on teaching, learning and assessment.
Learning Material Development:
- You are responsible for the timeous production of quality learning and support materials and collateral for use in the learning engagement with students.
Administration:
- Grading and reporting thereon.
- Regular meetings with academic management.
- Provide relevant information for reporting purposes.
Quality Assurance and Moderation:
- Participating in internal and external moderation processes as required.
- Participation in internal developmental workshops toward the enhanced quality of our provision of learning, teaching, assessment and student support.
- Attendance at committee meetings.
- Involvement in the syllabus design, development process and the updating of existing syllabi.
- Analysis of data for reporting purposes.
- Participate in the collation and preparation of Programme Annual Reports.
- Participate in the collation and preparation of Module Reviews.
- Be available for performance evaluations by the academic team. Be open to feedback and development arising from this process.
- Regular reporting to your direct and indirect line managers.
Scholarly Activity:
- Ongoing participation in scholarly activities including research, continued professional development, and the attendance and presentation at internal colloquia in your domain of specialisation.
Community Engagement:
- Ongoing participation in community engagement endeavours as per the Institution’s approach.
General:
- Any other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Candidates are required to hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree (or equivalent NQF 9-level postgraduate qualification). One of your qualifications must have been in the domain of the disciplinary area/s of the module(s).
Candidates are required to have a minimum of two (2) years’ lecturing experience at a higher education institution. This experience may be in the face-to-face (contact) or distance modes of provision.
