Job Description
An electronic engineering company is seeking a qualified Accountant to be responsible for the full internal accounting and finance function, as well as liaising with external auditors for preparation of the annual financial statements and independent audit review. This role reports to the Managing Director and there are no direct reports. This is a permanent, full-time in-office position.
Day to day duties include:
- Bank Payments and Internet Banking:
- Create and manage creditor accounts and payments.
- Process local and international supplier payments on time.
- Transfer funds between company bank, savings, and investment accounts.
- Manage foreign payments and consult with Standard Bank for special needs.
- Process monthly salaries and wages.
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Export and import bank statements.
- Allocate transactions to correct accounts.
- File reconciliations.
- Capture Money Market and CFC (dollar) transactions.
- Allocate customer payments to correct customers.
- Credit Card Statements:
- Capture credit card statements.
- Reconcile credit card expenses and journal entries.
- Creditors:
- Capture supplier tax invoices.
- Match supplier payments with tax invoices.
- Reconcile supplier statements and bank payments.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding payments and outstanding invoices.
- Generate journals for supplier early settlement discounts.
- Register vendors and process supplier credit applications.
- Debtors:
- Prepare customer invoices.
- Capture customer purchase orders.
- Match payments with tax invoices.
- Generate and send monthly customer statements.
- Follow up with clients on outstanding payments.
- Monthly Journals:
- Generate journals for supplier early settlement discounts, foreign exchange profit/loss, and expense allocations.
- Cash Flow Forecasting:
- Provide the Managing Director with a 3-6 month cash flow forecast.
- Update the cash flow sheet continuously, including large supplier and customer orders.
- BBBEE Compliance:
- Liaise with HR for annual BBBEE Certificate renewal.
- Assist with data for B-BBEE / SD plans on tenders.
- SARS Commitments:
- Compile data for VAT, PAYE, IT12, IT14, and provisional tax submissions.
- Liaise with SARS on compliance issues, tax payment plans, letters of good standing, tax clearance certificates, disputes, reviews, and audits.
- Management Reports:
- Prepare accurate and up-to-date Trial Balances, Profit & Loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Annual Financial Statements:
- Generate supporting documentation for external auditors to prepare the company's Annual Financial Statements and conduct the Independent Audit Review.
- Close off the year-end in SAPB1.
Requirements - Minimum of B. Comm Accounting (preference given to candidates with Hons.)
- Completed SAIPA articles required, SAICA articles preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' experience running the full accounting/finance function in an SME environment
- Advanced spreadsheet proficiency, including pivot tables and formulas
- Experience and proficiency in budgeting and forecasting, maintaining cashflow forecasts
- Experience and proficiency in calculating and managing VAT, Tax, and other statutory payments
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting Management Accounts and Financial Statements
- SARS E-filing experience and proficiency
- SAP Business One experience preferred
- Previous tender administration experience preferred
