POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining overall management accounts of the school, liaising with Heads of school on school's monthly performance as well as managing the school's overall budget (Capex & Opex). Point of contact for school on any financial related matters.
DEPARTMENTAL STRATEGY:
Finance: To deliver accurate financial reporting, generating insight to management on opportunities for efficiencies and improvements ensuring that the finance function is a business partner. Build and strengthen the relationships with the headmasters.
STRATEGIC CONTRIBUTION OF THIS POSITION:
Ensure that Management accounts are accurate and timely complied and submitted to head office and provide Heads of school with guidance on accounting policies and procedures.
POSITION PROFILE:
- Preparation and review of management accounts (P&L, BS and Cash Flow)
- Including variance analysis,
- identification of exceptions and anomalies,
- Risk & opportunities to budget
- Analysis of costs and other statistical analysis
- Month-end provision adjustments/journal (BD, audit fee etc.)
- Debtor related journals
- Debtors with credit balance
- Advance fees etc.
- Oversee banking controls for schools:
- Banking transactional processing (interest, bank charges)
- FNB management, including cash transfers, recipient approval etc.
- Performance of monthly bank reconciliations
- Salary and payroll journals
- Exceptional reporting and tax journals
- Pre-paid expense management
- Enrolment and billing recon review
- Credit note approval and review
- COGNOS and TM1 submissions for monthly management accounts
- Regular interaction with Heads of School to provide general financial support and feedback in relation to financial performance
- GL master data management on TASS/Financial systems
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: - Monthly management account deadlines met, including timely query resolution from both school and head office management team
- Overall responsibility for management accounts of each school as a divisional reporting pack
