We are looking to recruit a clinical psychologist with a special interest in paediatric neuropsychology to join our dedicated child neuropsychology service, providing assessment and intervention to children and young people with neurological injuries and conditions, being treated at St George's Hospital, London. This is a post designed to provide qualified clinical psychologists with the clinical experience and supervision necessary to pursue specialist training in clinical neuropsychology and ultimately gain entrance onto the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN). The postholder will have the opportunity to work across all areas required to obtain qualification as a clinical neuropsychologist.
This exciting post sit within the Paediatric Psychological Therapies Team which is a large, friendly and expanding service. We consist of clinical psychologists, family therapists, mental health practitioners, assistant psychologists, trainees and administrators. Our service provides psychological support to both inpatient and outpatients, covering a wide range of specialties. There are many opportunities for CPD and a chance to develop your clinical and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The role involves completing neuropsychological assessment and intervention for children and young people with a wide range of neurological conditions and injuries, both acquired and congenital. In particular the post holder will support children with acquired brain injury and those who are preparing for cochlear implant.
The postholder will be required to provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessment, therapy, and advice/ consultation to other health professionals, non-professional carers and families.
The post holder will exercise autonomous professional responsibility for clinical decisions, working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams' policies and procedures. In liaison with the multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will be expected to utilise their knowledge of evidence based psychological interventions and research skills to further develop neuropsychology and clinical psychology input to these services.
There will be many opportunities for audit, research and service development projects within the area served by the team/service.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of neuropsychology, psychopathology, and clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the British Psychological Society or equivalent training Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology. Membership of the British Psychological Society Division of Neuropsychology or Division of Clinical Psychology
