Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Trading Support: Work closely with senior traders to understand and support the day-to-day trading process. This includes learning how trades are executed, how strategies are developed, and how risk is managed.
- Market Intelligence: Provide high-quality, asset-class-specific market intelligence to clients, helping them make informed decisions in the derivatives market.
- Proactive Revenue Generation: Focus on generating revenue by identifying market opportunities, taking the initiative, and proactively engaging with clients and market developments.
- Order Execution: Manage and execute orders with precision, ensuring each trade is handled with accountability and professionalism.
- Research & Analysis: Generate and distribute market intelligence and ongoing research reports to support the trading desk. Develop bespoke research products and new trading ideas.
- Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings, answering queries and providing updates on market conditions and trading opportunities.
- Team Collaboration: Engage in team discussions, attend morning meetings, and collaborate on strategies to ensure effective execution and a cohesive working environment.
Required Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in a stockbroking or investment banking environment, with exposure to financial markets and trading.
- Proficiency in using trading/information systems to execute and track trades effectively.
- A strong interest in financial markets , particularly the derivatives market and its products.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification with a solid understanding of Statistics and Economics .
- Completion of the JSE trading exams (RPE) is advantageous.
- Strong Excel skills; any additional programming skills (e.g., Python, VBA) are a bonus.
