Senior Logistics Controller
My client is a leading player in the agricultural commodity trading industry, with a global presence and a commitment to excellence in logistics and supply chain management. As part of their continuous growth, they are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Logistics Controller in Cape Town.
The Senior Logistics Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of transportation, warehouse handling, and sales contract management for bulk commodities. Responsibilities include coordinating with various stakeholders, updating data accurately and promptly, generating invoices, arranging transport, facilitating customs clearance, and providing professional customer service. Attention to detail and adherence to contract terms are paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate contract allocations and manage commodity logistics efficiently.
- Coordinate with silos for load outs and ensure timely cargo upliftment to minimize storage costs.
- Generate invoices for storage incurred by clients/transporters on a daily basis.
- Coordinate dispatch instructions and execute sales contracts in strict accordance with terms.
- Liaise with customers, silos, transporters, and service providers.
- Manage cross-border transactions, including obtaining import permits and preparing pro-forma invoices.
- Ensure receipt of signed contracts before cargo release.
- Address customer queries promptly and professionally.
- Appoint service providers as needed and ensure costs align with contract terms.
- Assist the Accounts Department with resolving queries.
- Stay updated on export procedural requirements and handle admin for cross-border shipments.
- Dispatch shipping documents per contract terms and update the database daily.
- Monitor stock release under Collateral Management and manage CGIC limits.
- Update data and generate invoices daily, manage contracts, and ensure efficient task fulfillment.
Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in logistics/warehousing/grain industry preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
- Exceptional knowledge of imports and exports.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage projects under pressure.
- Understanding of trading/supply chain and financial principles.
- Building rapport with clients and service providers.
- Good organizational skills, initiative, meeting deadlines, integrity, team player attitude.
