Job Description
This role ensures compliance with a wide scope of legislation within a complex BU or being responsible for two or more functional areas within a BU, and influence legislative developments. The incumbent is individually accountable for establishing and embedding compliance across the business unit through staff supervised over periods of 3 months to a year.
Key Result Areas:
- Consolidate and manage all compliance deliverables across servicing areas, including Superfund, SARAF, Wealth, AML and other BU reporting requirements.
- Establishes & embeds compliance across BU.
- Ensures compliance within BU, or two or more functional areas within a BU, by implementation of compliance risk management and monitoring plan.
- Reports on compliance breaches to BU/functional areas management and Senior Compliance Officer/Compliance Executive.
- Facilitates resolution of compliance breaches.
- Assists in mitigation of compliance risk.
- Reports to the Senior Compliance Officer.
- Influences, under supervision of the Senior Compliance Officer, across the whole of the complex BU, or two or more functional areas within a BU from a compliance perspective.
- Interacts with the Regulator under supervision of the Senior Compliance Officer to shape new legislation.
- Co-ordinate regulatory change efforts in Servicing.
- Co-ordinate privacy efforts in Servicing.
- Utilises a wide scope of applicable legislation, including all primary legislation.
- Create a culture of awareness regarding Compliance and Regulatory issues and assist BU leaders to implement the necessary controls.
- Manages staff (e.g. Assistant Compliance Officers) if applicable.
Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Minimum qualifications and experience as specified by regulation.
- C Prac (CISA) (Advantageous).
- Compliance qualifications (advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the Financial Services industry.
- Management experience essential (non-negotiable).
- Attendance and support to the business and its various boards.
- Working knowledge and understanding of FAIS, FICA, Long Term Insurance Act, Pension Funds Act, Income Tax Act, CISCA is compulsory.
- LISP experience (Advantageous).
- Employee Benefits experience (Advantageous).
- Collective Investments experience (Advantageous).
- Minimum 2+ years experience as a Compliance Officer.
- Advantageous to have recognized legal, financial or audit qualifications and/or a professional designation, for example in the compliance field.
- Proven experience as a line manager.
- Experience managing a team.
