As a Business Analyst, your primary mission will be to work closely with diverse stakeholders to define, document, and drive our product roadmap.
In this role, you will be responsible for translating business needs and technical requirements into clear specifications that enhance product capabilities, streamline workflows, and increase the tangible value delivered to our users.
OBJECTIVES (main duties and responsibilities)
Key Objectives
- Requirements Gathering: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather and define requirements for new and existing product features. You’ll be expected to capture user needs, conduct detailed analyses, and translate them into actionable specifications.
- Solution Design and Gap Analysis: Partner with SCADA engineers and project managers to survey new client sites, assess gaps in existing solutions, and prepare formal solution proposals. These responsibilities require the flexibility to travel, often over multiple days, to client sites.
- Project Communication and Fulfilment: Communicate feature specifications to engineering teams using online project management tools like JIRA, and monitor implementation to ensure specifications are fulfilled accurately and within project timelines.
- Documentation and Training Support: Develop comprehensive, user-friendly guides for both new and existing features, utilising text and audiovisual formats. You’ll also assist in training support staff and account managers to ensure effective use of product features.
- Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to develop test plans for new features, ensuring that QA has clear parameters for testing functionality and performance.
Core Responsibilities
1. Requirement Analysis and Documentation:
- Conduct detailed analyses to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Work with various stakeholders to gather requirements, analyse data, and document technical and functional specifications for new features and system enhancements.
2. Solution Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct client site surveys, assess gaps, and create formal solution proposals.
- Document the technical and functional requirements needed for successful client implementation, including GAP analysis.
3. Project Oversight:
- Communicate with engineering and development teams to ensure timely delivery of product specifications, monitor fulfilment progress, and address potential issues proactively.
- Use JIRA and other project management tools to oversee the progress of multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
4. User Documentation and Training:
- Create clear, user-friendly guides and support documentation for both technical and non-technical users, utilising text, video tutorials, and screen-casts.
- Assist in training support staff, account managers, and clients, ensuring they are equipped to utilise product features effectively.
5. Quality Assurance Assistance:
- Collaborate with QA to prepare and refine test plans, offering insights to ensure new features meet quality and performance standards.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Formal Qualifications
A degree in Business Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience in business analysis or product management.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Technical Requirements Analysis and Documentation: Proven experience in gathering requirements and translating them into clear technical documentation for software products or features.
Product Lifecycle Management: Demonstrated experience in managing software project lifecycles, from large-scale deployments to ongoing incremental improvements.
User Documentation and Training Development: Skilled in creating effective user documentation, including technical writing, video tutorials, and other multimedia formats to support end users.
Data Modeling and SQL: Proficient in designing data models for relational databases, and working knowledge of SQL, particularly in environments using databases like PostgreSQL.
Software Architecture and UI Design: Familiarity with software architecture and user interface (HCI) design; experience in these areas is advantageous.
Industry Experience: Familiarity with the fruit or vegetable industries and supply chain management is highly beneficial.
End-User Support: Experience in end-user support, focusing on user engagement and feedback, is a plus.

2-3+ years of experience in business analysis, product management, or a similar role within the software or technology sector, ideally within a B2B or SaaS environment.
