Role Purpose
The role of the Credit Analyst is to provide analysis and recommendations on potential credit investments as an input into the fixed income portfolio management process.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or other relevant discipline.
- CA or CFA / working towards CFA (advantage).
- 5+ years relevant experience in an asset management, corporate investment banking or auditing environment.
- Financial Statement Analysis.
- Stakeholder management, analytical, influencing skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities
- Keep abreast of the external environment in which the segment operates in.
- Complete competitor analysis to assess the strengths and weaknesses of issuers.
- Analyse investment portfolios and financial instruments based on the outcomes and requirements of investment mandates and business requirements.
- Projects short- and long-term values of credit instruments and counterparties compared with historical valuations.
- Provide research, analysis and insight to recommend approaches on the construction and management of portfolios.
- Using ongoing research make recommendations regarding the appropriate improvements on solutions to ensure market dynamics are considered and effectively applied.
- Custodian of the fixed income team credit process and philosophy.
- Analysis of individual credit quality of borrowers in the fixed income team’s investable universe.
- Compile analyst reports with exposure recommendations on credit quality on a probability of default perspective.
- Generate internal credit ratings for issuers in the investable universe.
- Determine the fair value spread required before investing.
- Lead the view on credit quality and pricing prior to exposure taken.
- Reporting generation & report to the various governance committees.
- Contributing to the fixed income credit view in the TAA process.
- Building and enhancing the credit research process.
- Generating new credit opportunities for implementation in portfolios.
- Regular engagement with management teams as part of our ESG process.
- Custodian of the credit watch list and regular updates and reviews of existing credit exposures.
- Represent fixed income and credit team at various committees.
- Making credit exposure calls independent of outside influence.
- Building and evaluating credit risk and attribution models for fixed income portfolios.
- Build a credible profile in the market.
- Pro-actively support and work with other areas with a spirit of teamwork and shared accountability.
