Job Title: Rework Co-ordinator
The purpose of the Rework Co-ordinator job is to fabricate, fit, strip, repair, and paint locomotive products using various Alstom processes to support the correction of Non Conformances.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Weld safety critical locomotive components as per welding procedure.
- Setup and operate weld, hand, and power machine/tools.
- Read and interpret technical specifications, repair procedures, engineering drawings, layouts, and relevant weld codes and standards.
- Exercise skills and have experience in boilermaker trade.
- Assemble, rework, and disassemble parts to drawing.
- Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to strip, rework, and re-assemble material to relevant procedure/specification using the following methods – cutting, grinding, drilling, reaming, tapping, rust removal, and paint repair.
Qualification Requirement
- Grade 12 / N3
- Competency in GMAW (CO2)
- Formal Certificate in Welding
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience working on locomotive products.
- Competent in welding applications with proven track record.
- Working experience in GMAW (CO2) welding and procedures.
- Fitting and boilermaker experience will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Proven track record of working with various hand tools and equipment required to perform this job.
- Reading and interpreting drawings in a working environment.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Sound problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
- Ability to work to close tolerances.
- Able to read and identify welding symbols on drawings.
- Able to butt weld and filet weld in different positions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
