This key position in the Groups PE factory reports into the Management Accountant who will be retiring in 18 months and the candidate will understudy his position. The factory employs close to 400 staff. It is one of the leading manufacturers of their specialised product range which delivers high performance products. The factory continuously develops their production processes and upgrades their manufacturing facility to achieve the highest standards possible. It uses high-grade lead alloy and specialised additives with the applicable ingredients ensuring consistency of batches. They have customised their curing processes and apply patented moulding processes for lead straps. Sophisticated testing procedures are used. Their production plant is accredited with all the applicable ISO standards including for Energy Management, is compliant to SABS as well as IATF Quality Management System and other specific systems. The culture of the factory is high performance, ongoing pressure, extremely demanding with highly motivated employees who enjoy the daily challenges of their respective positions.
Key Performance Areas, inter alia, include:
- Financial Costing and reporting prepare import cost files & upload into SAP, assist & support projects, update Bill of Materials (BOMs) with latest costings and maintain Master BOMs especially in terms of standards (Company uses Standard Costing), maintain material master info, collate & prepare daily production scrap reports and attend meetings, compile & balance monthly scrap reports, review & report on monthly stock takes, prepare daily production reports, balance raw materials, be involved in year-end reporting.
- Stock control coordinate & assist with the planning of stock takes, investigate stock variances & resolve, do stock reports & stock analysis as well as stock management.
- Compliance ensure controls & procedures are in line with corporate policy, identify & report risks, ensure compliance with all relevant regulations & procedures to prevent wasteful & irregular expenditure.
- Customer service build & maintain working relationships both within the Company especially the factory and with external stakeholders, be a representative at applicable meetings, problem solve where applicable.
- Cost and financial control contribute to budget preparation process for manufacturing, use financial and other resources in carrying out duties, explore controls and reduce costs.
Requirements:
- B Comm (ideally with Major in Management Accounting), Costing qualification or similar. At least 5 years experience as a Cost Accountant in a Manufacturing environment.
- Ideally with SAP experience (if not, must have worked an ERP system), superior MS Office skills especially advanced Excel. Has good experience in Standard Costing as well as Import Costing.
- Able to create positive interpersonal relationships as the candidate will be working in a finance team and interacting with key factory personnel.
- Be proactive, organised, have attention to detail, work well under pressure and in a tight deadline environment, strong communicator and problem solver.
